Different Sets for Different Conditions?
« on: March 31, 2010, 08:15:39 PM »
Anyone have a low bounce set and a mid-high bouce set based on course conditions?  I actually won 3 CG15's this past weekend and have the option to change up my "groove arsenal" instead of just stocking up on the same things I always get.

I have low bounce now and am debating on getting a mid-bounce set for wet course conditions and travel...

Thoughts?

To me it depends on how much you play and how confident you are with your short game.  I used to play all of time and could change clubs based on conditions and course but now I don't play as much and I just stick with the same clubs all of time.  I know that you can gain an advantage by getting the right clubs to match course conditions but I find that for me I like the confidence that I have by having the same clubs that I hit all of the time in the bag.

I say all that to say it is based on how confident you are with your wedges

I ended up getting Cleveland's DSG's which provide standard bounce on square shots and low bounce when you open the face.  Sounds like a perfect bad weather / travel compliment to my low bounce set...

Eb, you hit the nail on the head w/ the confidence.  Whenever it rains... as a slider, I take a thin slice of grass behind the ball and chunk way too many pitches... so more bounce would really aid me there...

Thanks!
