High end wedge question
« on: April 01, 2010, 10:08:08 AM »
I have recently been trying to find a great set of weges.  I checked Scratch, Miura, and Chikara (which seem to be the top 3 at this point).  I got a quote on a custom set from all three companies.  My question is are they worth the money?  I got a quote between 300-350 dollars per wedge.  Are they worth that much money or do you get the same benefits from the OTR wedges that run 99-150 a piece? Any input is appreciated

they don't have to be custom I just want the same performance I like the idea of different grinds but don't know that it would make that much of a difference with the price being so much for them if I can get close to the same performance from OTR then I will be fine with not beign able to change the finish and stamping

And does anyone know if Chikara is still in business?

Scratch has different grinds for swing types... Sweeper/Slider Driver/Slider  Driver/Digger (I think these are the swings)

I was told Chikara has gone OOB.  Another board mentioned their website was gone as well, though I haven't looked for it myself.

Eric

Try the old Cleveland 588 BeCu's soft as silk, heavy as hell (you won't quit on those green side chips.

If you like the softness, send a set to Ron @ nomadgolfwrx.com as discuss with him what you want them to do for you.  Ron's great he'll take you through the whole process.
